Re: Favorite Tracks
Fri, May 28, 2004 - 3:34 PMi don't know what this one is called, but i love it. very dark.
i see an old man fingering his perishing flesh
he says he was a good man and he did good things
amused and confused by life's little ironies
he reaches for his bottle of distilled damnation

Re: Favorite Tracks
Fri, May 28, 2004 - 6:31 PMit's hard to make a list. each album was its own movement. they felt like complete bodies of work. and they landed in my life in a particular way. at a particular time. some tracks certainly stand out- but in the days before ripping, burning and short attention span theater, i *always played them from beginning to end. i rarely do that anymore with other music.
so in no particular order:
time again for the golden sunset
another boy drowning
uncertain smile
beyond love
out of the blue
slow train to dawn
sweet bird of truth
this is the day
august and september
the violence of truth
gravitate to me
the beat(en) generation
twilight of a champion
giant
*with infected, i always skipped the track infected.
i am totally and completely nostalgic right now and all my the the is in san francisco. [need a fix]

Sat, May 29, 2004 - 3:31 AM"Come my love
with your desire
out of the blue
and into the fire..."
Matt Johnson rocks...and I can't believe I forgot to mention "Love Is Stronger Than Death"! But I guess that I would have to say that "Dusk" is my favorite The The album. The least listenable was "Hanky Panky", but it was still good in its' own way...

albums
Mon, May 31, 2004 - 7:52 AM'burning blue soul' feels like exactly what it is-- a young raw matt. it is honest and dark. the outpouring of a brilliant, angsty 19-yr-old. my favorite albums are definitely 'soul mining' and 'infected'. minus the track infected, of course. i met a bunch of people during college who were heavily and spiritually into the the. we *all* skipped the first track coincidentally. maybe because it wasn't the same mood. maybe because it had radio play. -

Re: albums
Mon, May 31, 2004 - 8:40 PMI do agree with you in that all of his albums are truly thematic. I especially like the titles of his songs because they also seem to exemplify a feeling, a thought... -
